East Harlem, New York — A disturbing video showing a 14-year-old boy slamming a 15-year-old girl to the ground and stomping on her head has gone viral, sparking outrage over youth violence in New York City. The attack occurred in broad daylight on Monday afternoon at the corner of East 107th Street and Third Avenue in East Harlem, shortly after school let out.

According to police and witnesses, the boy confronted the girl — a ninth-grade student-athlete at East Harlem Scholars Academy Charter School who was heading to squash practice — after she refused to give him her phone number. Video footage circulating on social media shows the masked teen blocking her path in a crosswalk, threatening, “I’ll knock the s–t out of you right now,” while a friend eggs him on. nypost.com
When the girl tries to walk away, telling him to “get the f–k away from me, p—y,” he grabs her from behind, lifts her into the air in a body-slam maneuver, and throws her onto the pavement. As she lies helpless on the ground, he stomps on her head before casually walking off toward his friends, who appear to be recording and laughing.
The victim suffered a concussion, bleeding, potential brain injury, headaches, and a twisted neck.
She was hospitalized for two days at Harlem Hospital and required EMS transport. Her mother, Lucinda Arroyo, described the injuries as life-altering and said her daughter is “lucky to be alive,” noting she is undergoing physical therapy and feels exposed after the video spread widely.

“This is not even bullying, this is outright assault — and he could have killed her,” Arroyo told reporters. She added that the boy had harassed her daughter for weeks prior, though the family had not reported it to the school, believing it wouldn’t escalate. The girl will not return to the charter school, which Arroyo says “can’t keep her safe.”
The 14-year-old suspect, described by sources as a “known troublemaker,” was arrested and charged with assault. He appeared in Manhattan Family Court (Youth Part) on Thursday, where he was remanded into custody. Because both parties are minors, the case is being handled in family court.
